What we collect, why we collect it, and who can see it. Written plainly, because a policy nobody reads protects nobody.
Draft. This has not been reviewed by a lawyer.
It is published so you can see the shape of it and tell us what is missing. Do not rely on it, and do not treat it as the agreement between us. We will replace it with reviewed text before Akasiimo takes real money, and date it when we do.
The short version
We collect what a payment needs and what a creator needs to understand their own income, and not much else. We do not sell anything to anybody. A supporter’s phone number is never shown to the creator they supported, and never shown on a public page.
If you create a page
We store, because the account cannot work without it:
- Your email address, and a hash of your password. We never store the password itself.
- Your handle, display name, bio, avatar and page settings. All of this is public by design: it is your page.
- The mobile money number you want payouts sent to, once you add one.
- Session records, so you stay signed in, and so you can see and end sessions you do not recognise.
If you support a creator
You do not need an account, and we do not create one for you. For a single payment we handle:
- The phone number or card you pay with. This goes to the payment provider to move the money. It is never shown to the creator, and never appears on a public page.
- The name and message you choose to attach, if you attach any. Those are public: they appear on the creator’s page, which is the point of them. Leave them blank and the tip shows as anonymous.
- The amount, and which link you arrived through, so the creator can tell which video earned it.
Link clicks, and why we do not keep your IP
When you follow a creator’s tracked link we record that a click happened, so the creator can see how many people arrived versus how many supported them. To count you without identifying you, your IP address and browser string are combined with a secret and hashed. What is stored is the hash. It cannot be turned back into your IP address, and we do not keep the address itself.
We also store the domain you arrived from, if any, but not the full page address.
Who else sees it
- The payment provider, for the details needed to move your money. We do not choose them lightly and we will name them here once the arrangement is signed.
- Our email provider, for the address a verification or password-reset message goes to.
- Nobody else. We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not run advertising trackers on this site.
What we deliberately do not do
- We do not write phone numbers, card details, tokens, session identifiers or national ID numbers into our logs. Logs carry record identifiers instead.
- We do not read a creator's payout details from any reporting or analytics access. Those are kept out of the read-only database role entirely.
- We do not copy real people's data onto test environments.
Your choices
- A creator can hide any individual tip from their public page, and edit or remove their bio and display name at any time.
- A supporter who wants their name or message taken off a page can ask us and we will remove it.
- You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to delete your account. Payment records we are required to keep for accounting will survive an account deletion; we will tell you exactly what those are when you ask.
Write to privacy@akasiimo.tips for any of these.
How long we keep things
Tips, payouts and ledger entries are financial records and are kept as long as the law requires. Link-click hashes are aggregate counting data and are not kept indefinitely. Sessions expire on their own. We will put exact periods here once the retention schedule is settled rather than guess at them now.
